3/19/03 - Measured Julep - 16 1/2" svl.; 37 1/2" stl. (regenerated tail)
3/30/02 - Julep laid 40 eggs!!! There are some photos from that day in Julep's photo album.
I got a call in April from a woman, Barbara, who does Bunny Rescues in MI. Unusual circumstances came up and she took in an iguana from a man who needed to find her a home right away. Barbara really liked this iguana, but after a short while, felt she was in over her head. Barbara got my number from her vet, and called me. After talking I agreed to take this female iguana in. Barbara brought her and the cage that came with her on April 14th, and she fit right in. I renamed her Julep (I think her original name was Iggy or Izzy) because of the wonderful mint coloration on her belly and limbs.
Julep is a very good girl. She is now free roaming the room with the three other females iguanas, Igor, Lucien (spiny tail), and Loki (skink). She has never tried to bite. Julep has a voracious appetite and will even take food out of Hemme's mouth, often eating several dinner-sized paper platefuls of greens/veggies.Barbara told me that the man that had Julep fed her some icky looking commerical diet that was all powdery, and to that added some calcium powder and then a spray of vitamins. It's no wonder that she eats her greens and veggies as well as she does. It's almost like she's afraid she'll never get the good stuff again (the greens and veggies), so she packs away as much as she can.
Julep is a little over 4 years old. I'll be adding her SVL/STL soon. She has a regenerated tail and has grown a lot since she arrived in April. Her nose and "lip" were scarred pretty badly from the hardware cloth walled cage she lived in.
