May 2004...
May 12, 2004 - For now, I'm just typing in all the updates I did today... I updated the mite page, my art page, and the about The Iguana Niche page. I have more to write about, but I don't have the time to update now. Also, I uploaded some more photos to the WebShots photo site.
January 2004...
January 22, 2004 - I uploaded some .mpegs which are now linked on the video page. They are of Julep digging in her nesting box. Yep, it's that time of year again. I'm going to try to update some photos soon as well and maybe finally get that page of hemipene pics up too.
January 12, 2004 - The poker iguanas graphic is back up on the main page. I had a Christmas image up for the holidays. I wanted to take it down a couple days ago, but my ftp wasn't working quite right. Everything is fine now.
News... I hadn't needed to take any of the animals to the vet since Helmut's necropsy, but Igor's been very rambunctious and seems to have been in an eternal breeding season. He's much better now than let's say a month ago, but he's still trying to get on the "girls" and they don't want nothing to do with that. Because of his constant advances, he's got some nips that I didn't even know he had (I don't think they even bled, but still broke the skin) and he had some infections that needed checking. I called my vet and found out that he moved to Arizona, and that my favorite vet tech wasn't there anymore either. I was asked if I wanted to see another vet and at the time I said "No" (I was sort of in shock and not knowing what to do at that moment). The girl I talked to didn't make mention of any other vets I could see there that worked with exotics.A day later my oldest son caught the flu, then my youngest and then my husband and I... The swelling in Igor's foot (from a toe injury) had gone down considerably and the few other places I wanted checked out (chin and dewlap) weren't too bad. I would call back to the same veterinary hospital I had been going to and see if there was anyone else there that could see my iguanas, but it could wait until I wasn't as sick.
Christmas Eve - we're all sort of feeling better - not 100%, but not feverish anymore. We went driving around looking at Christmas lights. On the way home we passed the Veterinary Hospital and on the sign with all the vets listed I see "J. Matthew DVM". I now have hope. I'll explain... When I was bringing my lizards in to see Dr. Thoma, he had told me about a vet tech there named Jason Matthew, that left for college to become a veterinarian (emphasis on exotics!!!). He often consulted Jason about my lizards since Jason had access to the latest information concerning exotics. When Jason was in town, Dr. Thoma would have me bring in the iguanas for him to do blood draws and testing (cal:phos ratio tests). Anyway, I saw the sign and figured it had to be Jason.
I called after the holidays and found out it was Jason and that he worked mostly emergency hours (7 very long days/nights on, 6 days off), but that was also when he would see reptiles. All I had to do was call ahead and see how busy it was otherwise I would have a long wait.
I got Igor in January 4th. He put Igor on Baytril and decided to give the areas time to shrink before doing any lancing. Igor has since gotten better (attitude is back - annoying the "girls" again, more active and better appetite). I have to bring him back in by the end of the week if I don't notice improvement with any of the swellings.
January 9th - I called to bring Igor back in (and was going to bring Picasso in for Jason to examine and give me his opinion - ever since her neurological episode she has had problems with mobility in her front legs, and now that she's put her normal weight back on she's had even more problems moving). I found out it was very busy that night and to call back in about 2 1/2-3 hours (they were doing emergency surgery). I called back and found that they hadn't even started surgery at that point. They said I could drop Igor off and would not be charged a hospital stay, or I could try back tomorrow evening at 9pm. I opted to try back at 9pm the next night.
January 10th - 9pm rolls around, I call, they might be very busy - were supposed to have 4 animals coming in, 3 of which should have been there 10 hours ago. They said if I could get there fast Dr. Matthew could see Igor right away. I hurried up and got the igs ready. I took Igor, but instead of Picasso, I brought Chester. Late the night before I had noticed Chester's eyes looking rather red and was very concerned.
Once there, Igor gets checked out. His toe was less sensitive, which was very good. Dr. Matthew lanced his chin and it ended up being all scar tissue. I'm keeping it open for 24 hours to allow whatever else might me in there to drain.
Chester got blood drawn and a cal:phos test run which came back at a 1:1 ratio. Something to keep an eye on, definitely. I've decided to force more fluids on him to make sure I make it easier on his kidneys. Chester is also now on antibiotics for stomatitis on the tip of one side of his tongue. It wasn't noticable until we got his mouth pried open. I'm also now swabbing that area with Silvadene Cream twice a day in addition to oral Baytril.
So that's what's been going on as of late. Maybe this update section will end up being a blog of sorts. Stay tuned for more updates.

Updated 10/5/03 - I added The Iguana Niche to ReptiRank to get a bit more traffic to the site.
Updated 10/2/03 - I started up an Iguana Niche storefront at CafePress.com. I have items featuring 4 of my favorite iguana drawings, and one drawing that I used for a tattooed backpiece. CafePress has so many items to choose from that I just tried to choose what I thought would be popular and those items on which my drawings best fit. I'll try to make a list soon of other items, and if you e-mail me with which drawing at my store and which item you'd be interested in, I'll try to add it.
Updated 10/1/03 - Uploaded some photos to the webshots.com albums. Click on the new link at the site which will reorder the albums to show which albums have been updated.
July 2003...
Updated 7/8/03 - Uploaded a bunch of photos to the webshots.com site albums. I added two new albums there as well - one for my frog (Chibi) and my toad (Nema), and one for the anoles (Olive the Cuban knight anole included). Check them all out.

Updated 6/21/03 - Updated a lot of pages today. I've been working on them here and there for some time now and am finally getting them uploaded. I updated the page about mites, "So you want an iguana?", and added a page of things your iguana needs, updated the list of my lizards page, and have been doing some work on the site map (Iguana Niche Index)
Updated 6/4/03 - I added some info about the image on the main page. There's also a link to it on the main page. I may be putting up some of my older artwork soon, as well as some of my previously used graphics from this site.

Updated 5/26/03 - I can't believe it, but I had an old e-mail address as my contact on my main page. I changed it (igniche@igniche.com), and added some info about contacting me on ICQ - this is all on the main page.

Updated 3/19/03 - I've got some updates on the iguanas pages, but not all of them. I did get their photo albums all linked to their pages though.
Updated 3/17/03 - I'm slowly making some changes and updates. I am adding links from each iguana's page to their photo albums. As of now, Brigadune & Igor are complete. I added a video and checked for errors on the video page. I am working on updating the site map page as well - checking for broken links and making repairs, at least starting with that and then adding more as time permits.
February 2003...
Updated 2/7/03 - Updated the look to the main page - my iguanas playing poker. Sorry about having the Christmas picture up for 3 months. I can't find the .pdf file to edit the car picture I used to have on the site, and Helmut was the driver. Helmut passed away in November rather suddenly. I guess it was time for a new look anyway. I have been adding pictures of my iguanas and some of my other lizards to a photo site called "Webshots.com" I have a membership there and will continue to add pictures to the site as time permits. I'll post here when I get the links back up to the pictures (linked from each iguana's page). I had pictures of them at another online photo hosting place, but wasn't really impressed with how they were displayed there, so I let my free membership run out there and decided to buy a membership at Webshots. You can see everything I have up there at this link... http://community.webshots.com/user/ignicheKeep checking back as I continue to add more photos.
As soon as I find more time I plan to do more updates on this site. Thanks for your patience!

Updated 7/30/02 - Updated the art page again. I added a portrait. I'll be adding more on a continual basis as I've been pushing myself to do a lot more drawing.
Updated 7/26/02 - Updated the art page again. I added a drawing I of Igor I finally finished.
Updated 7/23/02 - Updated the art page yet again - 2 new drawings added. I'm looking to finish a lot of the drawings I started as well as do some more new ones.

Updated 4/25/02 - I uploaded another video. It's an old one of Chester.
Updated 4/22/02 - I updated the iguanas in the car picture on the main page and some info in the page about Iguana Niche.
Updated 4/9/02 - The videos are back!!! I had to make room on the server for them. Because of this, Ulric the green anole's page is temporarily down until I can move his photos to a picture site. Picasso's page is back up again. I hadn't changed the url to it since our provider changed. I added Kiwi as an angel to the memorial page. Also fixed and made changes to Katy's page (passed away April 9th, 2000).
February 2002...
Updated 2/28/02... Sad news... Kiwi, the little female iguana I adopted from Colorado Reptile Rescue passed away last week. Information regarding her death is on her page. I'll be adding her to the memorial site soon.

Updated 1/25/02... It's been ages since I've sat down and read my guestbook. I had it set up to send the entries to my e-mail address, but that was set up when I still had my AT&T account. I no longer have my old password, and can't retrieve it because of the invalid e-mail address. Today I signed up for another guestbook. That is the one that will be signed. I have both the old and the new guestbooks there for reading. Thanks! And my apologies go out to all of you who signed my guestbook hoping to hear back from me.

Updated 12/7/01... The Christmas Iguana Niche picture went up today on the main page. It should be up through the early part of January. The pictures are back up, now at another site. There is even an album of lizard Christmas photos! You can check them out here.

Updated 10/7/01... I went through and made some fixes to my site map page. Crosswinds seems to have deleted all my pics and videos, so I'll be looking to add them again, elsewhere, and eventually post those links again. I had a mistake with some links (such as the spiny tail page) and have corrected a lot of those errors.
July 2001...
Updated 7/26/01... Updated/posted Hemme's Page, Julep's Page, Kiwi's Page, and Chester's Page. I also added the other iguanas to the car on the main page, so now there are 9 iguanas in the car!
Updated 7/12/01... I took in an iguana in May that seems to have had some sort of neurological problems. Her name is Picasso and I have added her diary and image pages.

Updated 5/3/01... I added some neat pictures of an iguana hemipene, courtesy of Chester (my green foster son ;-)) and two video clips of him trying to mate with a towel.

Updated 4/19/01... I redid the site map. It's much more detailed now. I also added a page for Hemme. I will be dressing her page up a abit very soon, as well as adding a page for Julep. The page "about" The Iguana Niche has been updated today.
Updated 4/18/01... I revamped the main Iguana Niche page. Two iguanas (Hemme and Julep) have been added to the car and will have their own pages soon.

Updated 3/1/01... I've been busy adding pictures to the image gallery. I have all the iguanas and spiny tail iguanas as well as some anoles and Loki, the prehensile tailed skink in the gallery. I have 3 caresheets almost ready to add to the site. The bearded dragons have a pores page now.

Updated 1/29/01... I have the link to my lizards' videos up and running again.Updated 1/17/01... I removed the links to the picture pages from my iguanas' pages because Crosswinds seems to have lost them. At any rate, the pages were coming up as "Not Found". I also removed the video link for now. The videos and pics will be back again soon. I updated Ulric's, one of my male anoles, page.
Updated 1/14/01... I added an interesting link to the diet page and another link to the Links page. I'm sick of Crosswinds not working, so I'm slowly moving everything I have there to igniche.com. I moved my most recent artwork and it can now be viewed again. I've added a few new drawings to it as well.

Updated 1/8/01... I updated my recent artwork page. Hobbes passed away late Saturday night after several months of late stage kidney disease.

Updated 12/11/00... I added a mite page (also linked to on the navigation page) because of a problem I'm now dealing with after taking in a rescue (Hemme). I added my ICQ number on the main page as well as an indicator as to when I'm online (the flower).

This Update written on 10/2/00... I've been updating the anole page all through September as Ulric had that problem with his hemipene area. Hobbes is having possible kidney problems. I'll be working on her page this month with bloodwork updates and such. Igor got into a nasty scap with Helmut when Helmut squeaked out of the bottom of his cage. I'll be updating Igor's page too with the entire story and pics. I'll be very busy in the next few weeks working on copying caresheets for the Toledo Herpetological Society's page and changing dates on the NIAD pamphlets (as well as making new banners for use on websites for NIAD).

Updated 8/6/00... I have just moved The Iguana Niche to the shorter url. You can still get to it from the old way (with the new link to click on). I'll be adding more to the site as time goes on and working on getting all the bugs fixed.

Updated 7/29/00... I am slowly working on redoing this whole site- little by little. It will be easier to read, easier to navigate through, contain more information, and have more images. I'm hoping to have this complete by the end of August.

Updated 6/2/00... I added a new picture to the main page. I'm sorry I haven't been updating as much as I had been, but with the nice weather comes yardwork... I'm sure many of you know how that is. I have been taking a lot of pictures and video clips and have been working on a new main memorial page (and will be adding a page for Katy very soon). I also acquired a trio of adult bearded dragons. I'll be making a page for them very soon.

4/9/00... Katy passed away. Necropsy results still pending, but we're pretty sure it was kidney related. I have been working on a memorial page for her as well as writing about what I was doing for her in hopes to keep her kidneys from shutting down. I hope to have this page up in May.
Updated 4/5/00... I have been drawing again. I finished another drawing of Gator, and have added it to the Recent Artwork page.

Updated 3/2/00... I changed the picture on the main page. I added Katydid's (Katy) page to the pull bar of links. I added this page to the pull bar of links and a page of links (but I haven't added the links to that page yet). Oobleck's Memorial Page has been added to the link pull bar, and her old page link has been removed :-(. You should still be able to see her page through a link on her memorial page.

Updated 2/24/00... I added two more mpegs to the Iguana Video Clips page - another one of Katy eating carpet one of Helmut eating sneeze salts off his cage door and wall, and one of CDR begging for bread on his hind legs. I sure have weird iguanas, and I'm also sure I'm not the only one.

Updated 2/3/00... I changed the picture on the main page to one of Oobleck and me, taken November 30th, 1999. If you click on the picture it will take you to her memorial page. Igor's, Hobbes', Mandelbrot's and Helmut's pages have been updated. Note: Some of the stories are repeated on another one of the iguanas' pages depending on which of the iguanas were in the story.

Updated 1/28/00... I updated the Iguana Adoption page. You can now find links to reptile rescue sites and organizations.
Updated 1/27/00... I added another important link on Oobleck's memorial page. It's more information about gravid females and what to watch for.
Updated 1/26/00... I added a memorial page for Oobleck who died Friday (1/21/00) due to complications from egg laying (or not completing her egg laying- however you want to look at it).
Updated 1/21/00... I've added a second page of pictures to Oobleck's picture page as a lot has been going on with her this week. I added one more picture to Mandelbrot's picture page and an mpeg of Oobleck laying an egg on the Iguana Video Clips page.
Updated 1/19/00... I've added new pictures to Helmut's, Oobleck's, and Igor's page. Oobleck laid one egg last night. She (as with all my females) has rejected her nesting box. I'm hoping she'll lay more today. More info about her condition is on her page. I also have an updated picture of her tail (from the botched mating attempt by Helmut).
Updated 1/13/00... Hobbes' picture page and Igor's picture pages have been added to the Iguana Photo Gallery. Helmut's, Mandelbrot's, CDR's and Oobleck's picture pages have been updated.
Updated 1/12/00... An Indiana Iguana adoption page has been added.
Updated 1/7/00... I added some new stories to Oobleck's page, Helmut's page and added new svl measurements on each of the igs pages. I added a mpeg to the movies page (Helmut trying to mate with Oobleck, latching onto her tail and lot letting go).
